Crafty Karwachauth

Karwachauth is the most romantic festival celebrated mainly in North India, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Gujrat. These days it is celebrated almost in every state of India and even in Pakistan and other countries. One day fast is observed by women from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and longevity of their husbands.

Women gear up for this festival a few weeks in advance. Here are some handcrafted beautiful things that you would like to add to this Karwachauth. That’s why I called it crafty Karwachauth. First comes the pooja poster or wall mural and karwa. The below one is a very traditional wall mural that women used to paint on the wall with rice paste. In present days very decorative and beautiful ready-to-use posters are available in markets.

This special one is a hand-crafted brass karwa which is said to be for a goddess and can be of silver, brass, copper, or bronze. You need one clay karwa also. That can be decorated as per your taste.

Now comes the thali for pooja. You can decorate one on your own. It’s very easy just get some Bandhni print cloth, golden laces, sequins, beads, or mirror and glue. Decorate as per your liking.

After the pooja, it’s a great idea to gift your loved ones with a hamper of ‘suhaag’.
