Day 9 of Sketchbook Series We are not coloring, we are meditating today. No, I am not joking. Today we will follow a technique inspired by "Inky Meditations" that evokes a meditative experience. Start by applying water to the page, shaping it into the form you wish to bring to life—be it a fish, butterfly, tree, snail, or perhaps something entirely novel. Load your brush with ink or watercolor, then, with a deliberate touch, either drag the brush or release droplets onto specific points of the wet surface. The essence lies in applying paint only to the areas where you desire intense, rich colors. As the ink or watercolor diffuses across the wet page, the remaining space adopts a gentler, more muted tone. The enchanting part unfolds as you observe the colors slowly spreading on the wet paper, gradually turning into a distinct shape that unveils the final masterpiece. How do you like the idea? Day 7 of Sketchbook Series Exploring different watercolor techniques has proven to be an enjoyable and fulfilling journey. Today, I'm experimenting with a novel approach known as the "mopping technique," as demonstrated by Nadia, a watercolor artist who creates delicate watercolor florals. In this method, the initial layer of floral petals is painted, and then excess water is skillfully removed using a dry brush. Once the first layer has dried, the second layer is applied similarly. The outcome is a stunning effect, where each petal appears transparent, lending the flower a delicate appearance. I totally loved this technique—it's both simple and yields truly remarkable results. What unique object have you made into a vase? I do it all the time. I find unusual objects and turn them into vases. Sometimes home decor is about finding joy in the items around you and infusing them with life . #homedecor #decor #decorhacks #vase #smalljoys

Day 12 Sketchbook Series Today, I decided to challenge myself by attempting to paint a misty forest in watercolor. The inspiration came from the breathtaking misty forest paintings created by talented watercolor artists. In particular, Kolbie's work motivated me to pick up my brushes and give it a shot. While I acknowledge that my attempt may not capture the essence of a misty forest as closely as I'd like, the process has brought me immense joy. Exploring new painting mediums and experimenting with associated techniques has been a delightful part of my ongoing learning phase. I find myself in a phase of continuous learning, thoroughly enjoying each unique experience along the way. Day 10 of my Sketchbook Series: Today, I aimed to paint something quick, minimalistic, and visually appealing. The inspiration came from Celine, a watercolor artist based in Sweden, renowned for her distinctive minimalist floral watercolor style. This technique demands minimal effort, yet yields stunning results. The initial step involves using a fine-tip brush to delicately paint a triangle or V-shaped pattern on the paper. Subsequently, a round wet brush is used to drag or spread the color outward, forming a flower petal. Once dry, the process is repeated to create more petals. I found the final outcome truly delightful. What about you? Inspiration: @ritarkivet #watercolor #watercolorart #watercolorpainting #sketchbook #sketchbookideas #watercolorflora

Day 13 Sketchbook Series Let's paint beginner-friendly watercolor roses. I am following Yen's tutorial. All you have to do is make "C"s in circles and as you go outwards make the C thicker and use more water to soften the edges. Once done you can add a darker shade to add depth. Now, paint stems and leaves and you're done. I hope you like the idea. would you give it a try? Day 2 of my Sketchbook Series I believe that seeking inspiration from watercolor artists online is a valuable approach. This not only provides me with ideas to experiment with in my sketchbook but also allows me to acquire new techniques, ultimately aiding in the development of my unique artistic style. The watercolor painting I created today draws inspiration from Gaurav, an artist renowned for his mastery of the one-stroke painting technique. I know the painting didn't turn out great but I'm happy I tried and that's what matters!!!
